Put it into practice
Identify events that exceed the owner's authority or threaten a protected outcome.
Name the destination, response expectation and safe holding action.
Test what happens if that person cannot be reached.
A case to think through
A missed delivery commitment goes to the delivery lead; a suspected security incident follows its established specialist route rather than a generic founder queue.
This is a hypothetical operating example, not a client result.A boundary worth checking
A single 'urgent' channel for every exception can hide genuinely time-critical issues among routine questions.
An appropriate escalation can be evidence that the boundary works. Judge the reason, timing and outcome rather than seeking the lowest possible number of questions. Urgent safety, security and specialist incidents retain their established response routes; a general delegation exercise does not replace them.
