One decision. Clear ownership. · Review and retain

Building confidence after a handover

Confidence grows from understandable cases, usable authority and feedback on actual choices. Reassurance alone does not resolve uncertainty about whether a manager will be overruled for acting within the boundary.

Put it into practice

  1. Rehearse an ordinary case and explain the reasoning.

  2. Let the owner handle a suitable live case with agreed support.

  3. Review the decision fairly against the permission given.

Illustrative example

A case to think through

A manager offers an approved remedy without checking first. The founder supports that choice even if they might personally have worded it differently.

This is a hypothetical operating example, not a client result.

A boundary worth checking

Publicly overruling an in-bound decision can teach everyone that the written permission is unreliable.

Keep review focused on evidence and the conditions around a decision. A different reasonable method is not automatically a defect. Where intervention is necessary, make the temporary change to ownership explicit and decide what evidence would support restoring or revising the agreement.
